Welcome to the Personalized Learning FoundationŽ! Entering the 21st century, an alarming percentage of students in today's educational system are falling through the cracks and failing to achieve the educational standards they so critically need to become successful, contributing citizens. Overcrowded classrooms, over-regulation, system inflexibility and rigidity, and the lack of focused attention on individual student needs are major root causes of today's educational system failures. For more than a century, the public education system has essentially remained the same: one-size-fits-all. Yet our student population and its needs have shifted dramatically. While numerous education studies recognize that students learn through different styles, at different paces, in different environments, and with different kinds of curricula and tools, our education system has been too slow to change.

Class size reduction and differentiated learning within the classroom are good first steps, but are not nearly enough to successfully accommodate the diverse needs of all 21st century learners. A dramatic paradigm shift is needed toward a more diverse system of choices within today's educational system. Flexibility is the key ingredient. Education in the 21st century needs to be rooted in flexibility and a variety of learning delivery choices in order to accommodate the diverse needs of 21st century learners; learning models that can be tailored to the individual needs of the growing percentage of students who, for various reasons, are not succeeding in the traditional full-time classroom model. Choices like the Personalized Learning model. The Personalized Learning FoundationŽ has been established to advance and support the Personalized Learning model of education for 21st century learners.
